Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance coverage and session rates both vary by clinician, so the best fit really depends on who you work with. Some of our clinicians are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield. If your clinician does not take your plan, or you have a different insurer, we operate as a private pay practice. Rates depend on the clinician you see, and we are happy to share specifics when we match you with someone. We also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots, so if cost is a barrier please ask and we will see what we can do. For clients using out of network benefits, we can provide a superbill on request that you can submit for possible reimbursement. To make that easier, you can check your out of network benefits in a couple of minutes using our partner Thrizer. Just enter your insurance information and you will get an estimate of your deductible, reimbursement, and expected cost per session, with no phone calls and no pressure to commit.

Do you offer a phone consultation?

Yes. We offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to help determine whether Claimed Counseling feels like a good fit and to answer any initial questions before scheduling a first session. Book Here.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

No. All sessions are currently offered via telehealth.

How long are sessions?

Session length is determined collaboratively between the therapist and client based on individual goals, clinical needs, and practical considerations such as affordability. The standard session is 50 minutes, though shorter or longer sessions may be arranged when it better supports the client's care and/or insurance requirements.

How does payment work?

Payment is due in full at the time of service. We accept debit cards, and credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as HSA and FSA cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be charged the full session fee. This policy is non-negotiable, and a credit card on file is required for all clients to cover late cancellations or missed appointments. Insurance does not reimburse for cancellation fees.

Do you provide crisis services?

No. Claimed Counseling does not provide crisis services. If you are experiencing an emergency or are in immediate danger, please call 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to the nearest emergency room.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a chance to begin to understand what brings you to therapy and what you hope to work on. We will discuss your goals, relevant history, and how therapy may be most helpful for you. Sessions are paced intentionally, and there is no expectation to share everything at once.

I am new to therapy. Is this a good place to start?

Yes. We work with both first-time therapy clients and those who have been in therapy before. Our approach is supportive, structured, and collaborative, and we meet clients where they are.

How do I get started?

You can get started by scheduling a 15-minute phone consultation through our website or contacting the practice directly. From there, we will guide you through the next steps.
